Rethinking SIBO | Practitioner Masterclass

Join our SIBO clinical masterclass series with Tracey Randell this October, designed for nutrition practitioners seeking an evidence-informed approach to assessing and managing SIBO, IMO and complex gut disorders. Across three sessions, gain practical clinical tools for breath testing, root cause analysis, and effective treatment strategies for persistent digestive symptoms.

This October, we are hosting our next online masterclass series: Rethinking SIBO with Tracey Randell.

Across three sessions, this series challenges the idea that SIBO is a niche condition or simply a subset of IBS, bringing to light just how frequently it presents in clinical practice - often unrecognised.

Drawing on over 15 years of clinical experience in complex digestive health, Tracey shares a systematic, evidence-informed approach to the assessment and management of SIBO, IMO and related functional gut disorders. She explores the patterns behind persistent bloating, altered bowel habits, food intolerances, and unresolved fatigue - and how these symptoms often reflect chronic or relapsing SIBO in disguise.

If you are seeing clients who cycle through protocols without lasting resolution, or feel that low-FODMAP plans and antimicrobials are only scratching the surface, this series provides a clear and clinically grounded framework to approach SIBO with greater confidence.

Join live at 12:00 pm BST on:

  • Wednesday the 7th of October
  • Wednesday the 14th of October
  • Wednesday the 21st of October

Book your place

Tickets are £145 for a limited time only, until Thursday 24th September.

All modules are recorded and available to watch back on-demand for a year (October 2027).

Session One | What Is SIBO? Pathophysiology, Gas Types & Why It Matters

  • What SIBO actually is - anatomy, microbiology, and why the small intestine is not supposed to be colonised

  • Hydrogen SIBO, methane-dominant IMO (archaea), and hydrogen sulphide - each gas type produces a distinct clinical picture requiring a distinct approach

  • Symptom overlap with IBS, coeliac and other gut conditions - how to take a more informed case history

  • Predisposing factors: who develops SIBO, why, and what this tells you about the person in front of you

  • Why IMO is not SIBO - and the clinical cost of applying a hydrogen protocol to a methane-dominant pattern

Session Two | Breath Testing, Root Cause & Motility — Clinical Assessment in Practice

  • Lactulose vs glucose — substrate choice, client preparation, common errors and how to avoid them

  • Interpreting results: true positives, grey zones, and the flat breath test — why this raises suspicion for hydrogen sulphide

  • The migrating motor complex — why motility drives recurrence, why meal spacing is therapeutic, and how to counsel clients on this

  • Root cause mapping: structural factors, hypochlorhydria, PPI use, post-infectious dysmotility, connective tissue disorders

  • When breath testing is not appropriate and what to consider instead — including empirical clinical management

Session Three | Diet Phases & Antimicrobial Protocols — Building Your Clinical Management Toolkit

  • What diet can and cannot do - the difference between symptom management and resolving overgrowth; why clients must understand this distinction

  • Elemental diet, Bi-Phasic, low-FODMAP, SCD - matching the right approach to the client and the phase of their management

  • Herbal antimicrobials by gas type: allicin and Atrantil for IMO; oregano, berberine and neem for hydrogen; bismuth for H2S

  • Pharmaceutical options - Rifaximin +/- Neomycin, when to refer for protocol support, managing the client conversation

  • Die-off management, drainage pathway support, and prokinetics - why motility support is non-negotiable and cannot be skipped

This training is for you if:

  • You are seeing clients with persistent bloating, altered bowel habits, or unexplained food intolerances and want a clearer clinical direction

  • You suspect SIBO may be underlying complex cases but are unsure how to assess or confirm it effectively

  • You want to move beyond symptom management and apply a structured, evidence-informed approach to SIBO and related conditions

  • You are looking for a practical framework to manage chronic or relapsing digestive presentations with greater confidence

  • You want to better understand how SIBO, IMO, and complex gut disorders present in clinic and how to differentiate between them
