Description
Acerola (Malpighia emarginata DC.) is one of the richest natural sources of ascorbic acid in the plant kingdom. It is also a significant source of flavonoids, carotenoids phenolics, anthocyanins, pectin etc. By weight it contains up to 100 times more ascorbic acid than citrus fruit (up to 4500mg per 100g which is slightly less than Camu but with a much more pleasant taste). It is also a source of malic acid.
