As September is PCOS Awareness Month, the Roadmap Series focused on mapping the foundations of this complex condition.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) affects 8-13% of reproductive-aged women worldwide, making it one of the most common endocrine disorders healthcare professionals encounter. Despite its prevalence, PCOS remains widely misunderstood and misdiagnosed, in fact more often overly diagnosed!
Our Head of Education, Tanya Borowski provided healthcare professionals with the essential foundational knowledge to confidently understand and support PCOS in clinical practice.
This 70-minute session addressed common misconceptions about PCOS while highlighting the importance of recognition and intervention. By the end of this roadmap participants will be able to:
- Define PCOS according to current updated international diagnostic criteria
- Identify the four distinct phenotypes of PCOS and their clinical implications
- Differentiate PCOS from other conditions that present with similar symptoms
- Provide suitable diet and lifestyle interventions
