Biofilms

Creation of a biofilm involves bacterial attachment to a surface, often in the gastrointestinal tract. Minerals such as calcium, magnesium and iron are then sequestered to create a protective framework. Multiple organisms including fungi, yeasts, bacteria, protozoa, and viruses are capable of constructing biofilms which provide a physical barrier to treatment strategies. Products in this category can assist in the breakdown of biofilms.
