Research is increasing our understanding of the intricate relationship between the gut, the brain, and the experience of pain and the gut microbiota is increasingly recognised for its role in various types of chronic pain, including visceral pain, inflammatory pain and neuropathic pain.
As explorations into pain management develop, there is growing interest in the therapeutic potential of live bacteria for the management of chronic pain.
